All aboard a Christmas wonderland
YULETIDE bells are ringing and the festivities have begun, marking the transformation of shopping malls in the Klang Valley into a magical winter wonderland. Christmas would not be complete without immersing oneself in the experiential splendour as these malls have pulled out all the stops to make visitors feel like they have been transported into a different world. Get ready to be dazzled by an enchanting wonderland at IPC Shopping Centre as they present “A Wondrous Winterland” this Christmas. In conjunction with the mall’s 16th anniversary, IPC will take visitors through a holiday filled with sweetness and joy, featuring a collaboration with triangular Swiss chocolate, Toblerone. A giant lighted globe encapsulating a 4.5m Christmas tree adds a touch of magic to the festive season, giving a crystal-like purity to the winter snow. To give children an exciting adventure, IPC has included a Scandinavian twist in the decorations featuring a train ride filled with 3D tomtes (a mythological creature from Nordic folklore). Visitors will get a chance to make their own Christmas crafts as there will be ornaments and decorations as well as fun arts and crafts workshops. To spread warmth this festive season, Atria Shopping Gallery presents “A Joyous Christmas” theme to their shoppers. Walk through the Bavarian-style decorations as the mall has added their own touch of “Christkindlmarkt”, the globally known Christmas street markets held in some parts of Europe. For Christmas shopping, visitors can choose from a range of products at the festive bazaar. There will also be activities such as shopping rewards, tree decorating contests, wreath making contest, parties as well as arts and crafts workshops until Dec 26. The Starling mall’s Christmas experience will have you walking through the streets of London. The Starling has transformed the mall into a Christmas bazaar in the park with the theme “A Joyous Christmas Journey”. Treat yourself to entertaining traditional performances with a modern twist such as a marching band, street magician as well as puppet and comedy shows. What better way to experience Christmas than meeting Santa Claus and Mrs Claus? They will be making an appearance on Dec 14,15,21,22 and 25 at the mall. Visitors should not miss the iconic Old London Omnibus, the signature red telephone box and the pillar post box for must-have photo opportunities. At 1 Utama Shopping Centre, the mall is going with a “Whimsical Woodlands” theme to enable shoppers to wander through a winter wonderland. Check out Santa’s merry cottage surrounded by snow-capped Christmas pine trees wrapped in twinkling fairy lights and colorful baubles at the mall. At the ground floor centre court, visitors can get into the Christmas spirit while gliding around the ice skating rink, minus the ice. 1 Utama will also offer cheerful Christmas carols, ballet performances and marching bands. As Santa Claus is coming to town, visitors can collect stickers and bring home exclusive Christmas gifts with Whimsy Rewards in December. Over at The Curve, you can expect a cosy and huggable day with its “A Beary Merry Christmas” themed decorations. At the centre court, you will see a big playroom decked with toys, cuddly teddy bears, playing blocks and a replica of Santa’s sleigh. At the Piazza, a mesmerising 9m Christmas tree is displayed for people to enjoy a photo opportunity. As The Curve practises responsible business and sustainability, its Christmas trees, lights and decorations are recycled. Visitors will also get to enjoy the Santa and Santarina walkabout on Dec 14 and participate in plenty of performances and fun activities until Christmas. Article type: free User access status: 3
